LABORATORY DIAGNOSTICS - Course description

The course consists of 10 hours of lectures (5 lectures) and 60 hours of classes and is conducted throughout one semester. The Laboratory Diagnostics course describes how biochemical tests’ results are utilised for the diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases. The pathophysiology of diseases and the analytical challenges they present will be outlined and discussed in lectures and classes. The course also focuses on the role of testing for critical care support, as well as for the more routine investigation of disease, testing at the patient’s bedside and quality control within the laboratory. Case studies will be used to illustrate these concepts, with discussion of their interpretation during classes.
